It\u2019s been a busy few months\u2013in April, Nalini and I gave a talk on\u00a0<em>Roots and Reflections<\/em> at the University of Washington South Asia Center. During the same trip to Seattle, I organized a panel for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160402034120\/http:\/\/aaastudies.org\/content\/\">Association of Asian American Studies<\/a> entitled \u201cContestations and Collaborations: Creating Asian American Archives and the Challenges of Representation\u201d with Samip Mallick from the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160402034120\/http:\/\/www.saadigitalarchive.org\/\">South Asian American Digital Archive<\/a>, Neena Makhija from the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160402034120\/http:\/\/sindhivoices.org\/\">Sindhi Voices Project<\/a>, and Theo Gonzalves, professor of American Studies at UMBC.\u00a0 My paper, \u201cFrom Observer to Insider to Observer: The Challenges and Possibilities of Community Based Research\u201d explored the issues that arise when representing community histories and working with institutional and community partners who are invested in retaining historical narratives of South Asian success.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>I also gave a workshop for the University of Washington Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies Department titled: \u201cWhat\u2019s Next: Moving Beyond Graduate School with Your Feminist Studies PhD.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spring semester is over and the Baltimore summer is quickly heating up.
